I never liked making homemade ice cream. I remember my grandmother making me crank the ice cream maker for hours to get just a few scoops of that cold creamy concoction. My arm would ache for days. About 5 years ago, bless my son-in-law, I became the proud owner of an automated ice cream maker. No more cranking. Just mix, fill, turn on and wait. How splendiforous!! And delicious!!
The first batch of ice cream I made was in honor of my son-in-law as he bought me the automated ice cream maker. His favorite ice cream…Vanilla!!!

Ingredients:
2 cups of heavy whipping cream
2 cups of half-and-half
3/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon real vanilla extract
Directions:
In a large bowl mix the heavy cream and half and half until well blended.
Add the sugar gradually and whisk until well blended.
Whisk in the vanilla.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 3 days.
When you are ready to make your ice cream blend the mixture once again.
Place the mixture in your ice cream maker’s container and follow the directions for making ice cream.
Serve your vanilla ice cream with chocolate cake, on top of chocolate chip cookies, or by itself with a drizzle of chocolate or caramel syrup.
Place the remainder in the freezer for later consumption.
