Aside from being a Mom or playing baseball, you can’t get anymore American that this….a great homemade apple pie recipe given to me by my favorite Aunt. If you are lazy like me, I do not make the pie shells from scratch but purchase the pre-made shells from the grocery store. I think the pie tastes just as good. French Apple Pie is a wonderful variation of the standard apple pie. Instead of a pie shell on top of the apples, you sprinkle a delectable crumbly topping over the apples. No kidding…I promise this is Mom’s recipe passed on from her Mom so that’s what…3 generations of the best apple pie recipe you will ever have! I always add more cinnamon, brown sugar and nutmeg than the recipe calls for because I love the sweetness of the sugar mixture with the tartness of the apples. So I strongly suggest you taste test the apple & sugar mixture before you bake it. There is really not “too much of a good thing” in this recipe. Read the rest of this entry »
