Chocolate Chip Cake

This Chocolate Chip Cake recipe is very easy to make. It is a basic pound cake recipe with 1 cup of chocolate chips added. However, do not restrict yourself to the basic chocolate chips. Try using white chocolate chips, or peanut butter chocolate chips. Even mixing in a cup of nuts with the chocolate chips works well. I like using white chocolate chips and crushed macadamian nuts served with some slice up pineapple or pineapple sorbet for a Hawaiian flair.

Ingredients:
1/2 pound of butter
1 2/3 cups of white sugar
5 eggs
2 cups of cake flour or all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup of chocolate chips
1 cup of nuts (optional)
9X5 inch loaf pan
Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees F.
Butter and lightly flour a 9X5 inch loaf pan.
Cream the butter.
Slowly add the sugar to the butter and beat until light.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating each in well.
Stir in the flour, salt and vanilla and combine thoroughly.
Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (optional).
Spoon into the loaf pan.
Bake 1 1/4-1 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Cool in pan for 5 minutes.
Turnout onto cooling rack.
Serve very thin slices.
Top with chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
